The representations of financial data on are based on raw data, partly sourced from Statistics Austria and partly uploaded by the participating institutions themselves. The data of the individual institutions is available on the respective page. For example, data on the city of Salzburg is available at the link

The following was implemented in the project:

  1. An interface has been set up at via which the data of multiple municipalities can be downloaded without having to access each individual municipal website.
  2. Metadata descriptions were offered in accordance with the Austrian OGD standard in order to make data locatable in other data portals, such as, too (see below: "metadata").

You can download municipal revenues and expenditures here. The data from the compulsory notes (e.g. debts and liabilities) or from our calculations such as the KDZ Quicktest or the Tax Euro (Steuereuro) are not available here.

For performance reasons, the setting of 2-3 filters is required after each authorisation level: 3 filters for anonymous users. For logged in users, setting 2 filters is sufficient. If you are interested in a user account, please send an e-mail to offenerhaushalt[at]

Selection of the following filters is compulsory:

  • Years. Data is available starting from 2001. The current year is based on the time the latest data becomes available. Note the information provided at the bottom next to "Data source"!
  • Federal province
  • Size of municipality. The size categories specified are fixed settings and cannot be changed..
  • Functional classification by group (1st level), section (2nd level) or subsection (3rd level). For details see main view (Hauptansicht).

Additional Filters

The following additional filters have no influence on the number of filters to be set; they offer additional comfort:

  • Revenues / expenditures. Here the search results can be limited to show only revenues or only expenditures of the respective classification.
  • Data source Statistics Austria / Municipal GHD. The Statistics Austria data (3-digit code) is imported annually in October for the previous year's final accounts and is always available for all participating institutions. (This means the data of the final accounts for 2016 will be available at the end of October 2017). However, the participating institutions are free to upload their own final accounts or budgets earlier. This is done with a standardised data format known as "GHD". It contains more information (6-digit code) and can be made available more promptly, but only by institutions that make use of the option of uploading such data themselves.

Data format

CSV, character set UTF-8

The files are packed in a ZIP Archive.
